Festive NOTD

I have been reading other peoples festive NOTD posts in awe - there is some amazing nail art out there!  I on the other hand am feeling tired and lazy :p  So here is my classic take on a Christmas nail.

These are my two all time favourite shades of polish anyway which is handy!  The base colour is Leighton Denny Jailbird and the tips are in OPI I'm Not Really a Waitress (never really understood this title?!)  They are two gorgeous metallics in festive green and red.
I'm off to my mums for Christmas this year so..... A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY READERS!!!

The 24th (and last!) Day of Beauty Advent

So today is the last day of my Latest in Beauty advent calendar :(  But what a lovely little candle I received today!  I love the packaging as it looks expensive and classy.  AS London is not a brand I have heard of before but apparently its the first ethical company that can compete with other luxury brands.  Not sure what the scent is supposed to be... but am looking forward to burning it.

Personally I think this beauty advent calendar has been amazing and I will be using pretty much everything in it.  I am so glad I invested in one at half price!  Latest in Beauty included a great selection of products ranging from skincare to nailcare to cosmetics.  The selection of brands was fantastic too with some high end ones that otherwise I would not have been able to afford to try.  Well done Latest in Beauty!

Did you enjoy the calendar?  Or did you not buy one but are now considering one for next year?

The 22nd and 23rd Day of Beauty Advent

So here we are right at the end of my Latest in Beauty Advent Calendar :(  The products are still amazing though!

Day 22

A cute little pocket sized glass file by Mont Bleu!  I am a die hard Leighton Denny Crystal File fan so am a bit nervous about using this incase it doesn't match up.  However, it is the perfect size for my handbag and I will be less worried about this one breaking!

Day 23

Balm Balm Rose Geranium Lip Balm - I am kindly giving this one to my partner (or at least sharing it!)  As he is a lip product junkie and his favourite Decleor is running out!  It smells yummy like Turkish Delight so I'm not sure if that might put him off...  Looks like a good quality natural balm though!

The 19th, 20th and 21st Day of Beauty Advent

So maternity leave is supposed to be relaxing... but I've been doing more off work than in work!  So apologies for the late posting of the past few days of my calendar.  Here is what I have received:

Day 19

Yardley?  Really?  Not much I can say about this as I am not a fan of 'body sprays' or the brand Yardley.  Though I have noticed Yardley popping up of late in beauty boxes too.  Is it trying to have some kind of resurgance?  The scent I received is actually not too bad - Royal English Daisy.  It just smells fresh and light - might make a good room spray!
Day 20
Really love the look of this Trilogy Rosehip Antioxidant Oil..  It comes in a cute little dropper bottle and the packaging states it is a 7 day trial which is nice as I know exactly how much to use and that's enough time to get an idea of whether it works for me.  Seen some great reviews of this too by fellow beauty bloggers!
Day 21

Yay I've been looking forward to this Eve Lom Rescue Mask too!  Nice 15ml sized tube.  Can't wait to have a pamper with this.
Are you enjoying the last few days of your beauty advent calendars?

The 18th Day of Beauty Advent

YAYYYY!!!!  This is THE item I have been waiting for in my calendar.  Just before I ordered this calendar I was about to order my first tin of SteamCream after hearing great things about it - SteamCream is an all natural and very affordable multi purpose moisturiser.  However, seeing a full sized tin came included in the calendar really swayed it for me!  Here is my tin:

I love that the tins are collectible and recyclable.  This particular design is called Kani Lehua which features a tropical leaf print.  I can see myself choosing a different design each time just for the cuteness if I get on with this cream!  I can't wait till my Liz Earle Skin Repair runs out so I can start on this :)
Have you tried SteamCream before?  Does it live up to the hype?

Nails Inc Couture - Personalised Polish!

As you saw a few days ago I received some amazing pressies for our little one expected on 8th January.  However, I also received an amazing gift from my good friend Leigh for a little bit of pampering - Nails Inc Couture.

Nails Inc Couture allows you to create a personlized bottle of nail varnish from the cap right through to the shade label.  Leigh picked Connaught Square 3D Glitter Special Effects for my shade - I love it as I don't have many glitter polishes in my collection at the moment.  It's a fine blue glitter with larger purple flakes in it.  Here it is with 2 coats.  Next time I might try 3 or 1 over a solid shade.

And here is the personalized bottle!  I love the blue diamante cap that matches the shade of polish perfectly.

What was a really sweet touch was the 'Yummy Mummy' stickers on the base of the polish and the box!  Meaning even once the varnish is all gone I'll remember the occassion it was bought for :)

I think these Nails Inc Couture bottles are the perfect gift for the girl who has everything - especially for nail varnish fans who have every shade going.

Have you ordered any Nails Inc Couture for gifts this Christmas?  You can spend hours experimenting here!

The 17th Day of Beauty Advent

I love hair balms.  I have thick long hair that tends to go a bit fluffy when I blow dry it and straightening/smoothing balms solve this problem.  Today I received the Nicky Clarke Instant Calm Sleek Soften Shine balm that contains argan oil and avocado oil which sounds promising as it treats whilst it styles too.  It smells quite yummy too - to me it smells like a cross between Loveheart sweets and coconut oil!

The 16th Day of Beauty Advent

Today I received a very cute dinky bottle of Aromatherapy Associates Revive Morning Bath and Shower Oil.  The smell is beautiful and reminds me of the Clarins Bath and Shower Concentrate.  You either add a capful to the bath or smooth a capful over your body before showering which is nice to have the option.

I am desperate to use this right now for some pre-baby pampering but not sure if it safe to use whilst pregnant?  You have to be careful with a lot of aromatherapy oils whilst pregnant.  However, this will be a good pick me up for afterwards!

Maternity Leave Here I Come!!!

This Friday was my last day at work till September 2013!!!  Though I will shortly have a new and very important job as a mummy :)  I had a really lovely send off at work and though not strictly beauty related I wanted to share with you all the gorgeous gifts I received.

Clockwise from Top Left: Cath Kidson Hankie Rose Sleepsuit, Mothercare Giftcard, Cath Kidson Hankie Rose Blanket, Rituals Baby Secret, Rituals Baby Splash, Disney Thumper Shoes, Little Bird by Jools Oliver White Embroidered Dress, Ted Baker Floral Dress and Leggings, Nails Inc Couture, Little Bird by Jools Oliver Fawn Flanner Pyjamas, Unwind Candle Set
How cute are the little outfits!  I really love the retro feel of the Little Bird by Jools Oliver outfits - they're simple but beautiful.  The Cath Kidson blanket and sleepsuit are in my favourite Cath Kidson rose print - very girly.  The Ted Baker dress and leggings are so cute with the puffball hem and floral print.  I can't wait for her to grow into them all!
The Rituals baby products are perfect for bathing newborns but they smell so lush I can see myself pinching them!  This little one is already branching into the world of beauty :)  I'll def be doing a review of these once she has her first bath.

I adore my Nails Inc Couture nail varnish personalised by my close friend Leigh.  The colour is a gorgeous blue metallic with purple glitter and cannot wait to do a separate review just on this alone.

This little one has been spoilt already!  I can't wait to spend the Mothercare voucher and spoil her even more :)  Just over 3 weeks till D-Day!

The 13th, 14th and 15th Day of Beauty Advent

I was doing quite well at keeping up with my daily advent post until the end of last week got quite manic as I am now on maternity leave! :D  (post showing all my lovely gifts to follow shortly)  Here are the days I missed:

Day 13

This product is probably the one I was least looking forward too.  Despite being pale skinned I have never got on with fake tanning products.  However, this is a St Tropez Instant Glow Lotion rather than fake tan so I might give it a try in the summer.

Day 14
I'm a fan of mineral make-up and loose eye shadows so I will definitley be trying this one out.  The shade is called 'Celebration' and is a lovely bronze colour which suits my colouring.  Bella Pierre is another brand I have yet to try and am pleased with the inclusion of some make up products in the calendar.

Day 15

I've never heard of the Australian brand Mirenesse before?  However, the packaging of this Lip Lift Moisture Shine is very nice!  The shade I have received doesn't really wow me as it is pretty much clear with pink glitter in it.  However, I always like to have a few lip glosses on the go so this will be a nice new one to try.

Have you enjoyed the past few days of your beauty calendars?  What has been your favourite product so far?

The 12th Day of Beauty Advent

Well I'm already half way through my advent calendar now :(  But todays treat was a surprise hit with me!  I haven't used any Balance Me products before but have seen samples of them on magazines.  Today's gift was a gorgeous 10ml roller ball of Balance Me Radiance Face Oil.

This smells beautiful and the texture of the oil isn't greasy at all.  I love the idea of facial oils for a luxurious and relaxing night time treatment.  Also, this roller ball dispenser reminds me of the Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate which I have been wanting to try for a while.
Can you recommend any other Balance Me products?  Have you used this face oil before?

Five Pregnancy Beauty Heroes

I am now 36 weeks (eeek!) and to be honest I've not blogged half as much about pregnancy as I expected to.  This is mainly due to the fact that I have been very lucky and have had a pregnancy where I have actually felt and looked better than I usually do.  All my hormonal breakouts have gone and my nails have stopped peeling and breaking.  I've not even had that much trouble with aches and pains until now!

However, there have been a few products that I have been using consistently through my pregnancy to keep me feeling good.  Here they are:

Palmers Tummy Butter

A lovely chocolatey smelling tummy butter thats supposed to prevent and fade stretchmarks.  Luckily, so far I haven't had any but I am still using this as I enjoy just applying it!  Its definitely more of a balm than butter though and needs to be scrapped out of the tub then melted in your hands.

The Sanctuary Heel Balm

This is perfect for aching feet and foot massages.  Unlike most foot creams it doesn't have an overpowering mint smell.  Plus a tiny bit goes a long way!

Bare Minerals Foundation

I am a long time fan of Bare Minerals Foundation.  Even more as my skin has been behaving during pregnancy!  Just a light swirl of this gives a flawless, quick and natural finish.

Garnier Simply Essentials 2 in 1 Make up Remover

As much as I love my Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish some nights I've just been too damn tired to do a proper cleanse (naughty me).  A few cotton pads soaked in this though does the trick at removing all even waterproof make-up without irritating skin.  You just shake the bottle to mix the oil and water based cleansers to activate.  Readily available and cheap too!

Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely EDP

Most of my favourite scents are warm and exotic.  However, during early pregnancy your sense of smell becomes heightened and even though I didn't suffer with hardly any sickness scents I previously loved became to heavy for me.  The one perfume I have been able to wear throughout is SJP Lovely.  This scent is clean, soft and girly - my perfect weekend, relaxed fragrance.

The 11th Day of Beauty Advent

Today's gift was a Jo Hansford Intensive Masque and what girl doesn't love a hair masque?  My hair is particularly dry at the moment because of the weather and I can get away with using a hair masque every other day.

This is a great 50ml size meaning I'll get a good few uses out of it.  Plus, it smells gorgeous - like fresh orange juice!

Jo Hansford is a brand I haven't heard much about.  Have you tried any of their products before?

The 10th Day of Beauty Advent

I was super looking forward to this one - not one Dermalogica sample but 4!  This included Special Cleansing Gel, Daily Microfoliant, Skin Smoothing Cream and Multivitamin Power Firm

I think I'll be trying this little set after baby is born as Dermalogica is known for dealing with problem skin and I'm guessing mine will go a bit crazy then.  Plus I've been wanting to trial Dermalogica as my workplace sells their products at a discount... gotta love a bargain!

The 9th Day of Beauty Advent

How cute is this little dropper bottle of Bioeffect EGF Serum?  I love that they have used the usual packaging but in minature.

The price however is anything but minature... the full 15ml usually costs £125!!!  Making this 3ml size worth £25.

I'm expecting great things from this serum and can't wait to try it.  Bioeffect is not a brand I've heard of before but apparently 30% of Icelandic women use this serum so it must be worth a try!

The 8th Day of Beauty Advent

Yipeee!!!  Philosophy!!!  I have been waiting to try Philosophy products as travel sizes and samples don't seem to come up that often and I like to try before I buy so I was super pleased about this.

However, I was a little confused as the Latest in Beauty website advertised the product to be included as Purity 3 in 1 Cleanser.  Instead, I received Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash.  Still super pleased though and this is probably a better addition to my skincare regime as I already have my favourite cleanser in Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish.

Did anyone else receive the Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash?  Have you tried it yet?

The 7th Day of Beauty Advent

Today's Christmas treat is a 7.5ml tube of Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation.  This is amazing as Perricone is definitely a high end brand with this particular product retailing at £47 for 30ml!  I've heard lots of rave reviews about this being a posh BB cream with lots of skin benefits.

I quickly sampled this in Harrods a few weeks ago and to be honest it looked a bit orangey to me.  However, I am looking forward to trying it properly with this travel size.  I would never have risked splashing out on the full sized product!

The 6th Day of Beauty Advent

I am super excited about trying these two products from ESPAESPA Lift and Firm Eye Serum and Moisturiser.  I'm a big fan of spa based brands liked Elemis and Decleor and this is one range I am yet to try.

I love the way they have packaged this too.  Not in sachets but in two perfect minatures boxed twice!

So far I'm really impressed by the sizes and selection of products in the Latest in Beauty Advent Calendar.  How about you?

The 5th Day of Beauty Advent

Behind today's door is a very generous 50ml Richard Ward Couture Volumiser Root Boost.  I have tried Richard Ward before in the form of his Shine and Define serum when it was in Superdrug clearance for 99p?!?

I'm pretty useless as blowdrying my hair and creating lift so am looking forward to seeing how this works!  I've seen it in action on QVC previously.

Have you tried Richard Ward Couture Volumiser Root Boost before?  Is it any good?

The 4th Day of Beauty Advent and my 100th Post!

I love these dinky little L'Occitane handcreams.  Though this one seems particularly small?  I have had minature L'Occitane handcreams before and they did seem slightly bigger.

Nonetheless these petite handcreams are perfect for your desk, handbag or for me in the near future - baby changing bag!  I'm looking forward to trying this Shea Butter version.

On another note - the is my 100th post! :D  Can't believe I have been blogging for over a year now.  It's been a slow burner but have enjoyed every minute of it - especially meeting other beauty bloggers online!

NOTD - Leighton Denny The Heiress and Rebel

Just a quick NOTD post!  In an effort to use up more of my extensive nail collection I'm going for the ring finger manicure a lot more often.  I like this combination of two very different purple shades - Leighton Denny The Heiress - a cornflower lilac and Leighton Denny Rebel - a deep metallic purple.

What do you think?  What are your current favourite ways of making the most of your nail varnish collection?

The 3rd Day of Beauty Advent

Here is today's little treat!  A Benefit They're Real Mascara 30g.

I've only tried one other Benefit product before - The Porefessional - so I'm looking forward to trying this mascara.  Also, I find these dinky mascaras really handy for travel. I think this one may be going in my hospital bag!
The Latest in Beauty Advent Calendar is looking great to me so far!

The 2nd Day of Beauty Advent

Behind today's door was these girly packaged eyelash curlers from The Vintage Cosmetics Company

I actually haven't used eyelash curlers for a long time so this will be a nice opportunity for me to try them again!

The vintage packaging is lovely but once out of the box they look pretty similar to any other eyelash curlers.  Nice touch to include beauty tools as well as products in this calendar though!

*Apologies for the bad photography lately - I'm using my mobile and as its getting dark earlier I'm having to use flash!

1st Day of Advent! Latest in Beauty

My Latest in Beauty advent calendar arrived yesterday just in time for the 1st December!  I was really impressed with the quick delivery especially as I received my calendar at half price.  I know this is a bit of a sore point with most customers as the offer was only sent to those who had already bought to either by another at half price or pass the code onto a friend.  I was lucky enough to receive a code from a friend and probably would not have bought otherwise.

The calendar really impressed me when I opened it with its huge pink bow!  I also liked that you could preview the contents online too.  The calendar came with a cute Christmas card containing discount vouchers for some of the brands included.

Behind door one was this cute Mavala Rouge Rubis 5ml Nail Polish - I love the cute angel packaging and have already hung it on my tree!  This will be the first Mavala polish I have tried and I love the Christmassy sparkly red shade.

I can't wait to open the rest of my calendar!  Do you have a beauty advent calendar this year?

November Empties

At this time of year I try and use up most of my products to make way for all the Christmas beauty goodies I receive!  Here are a few of the things I managed to finish this month......

Soap and Glory Daily Smooth Body Butter  I love body butters and this is a particularly good one.  Really rich but absorbs quickly and scented with Soap and Glorys scent 'Mist you Madly'  This huge 250ml tube has lasted me for ages!  Not to keep on the tube packaging though - tubs are much easier to get every last bit out.

Soap and Glory Thick and Fast Mascara This was a freebie with a magazine.  The brush has really thick bristles and gives lots of volume and clump free lashes.  Only problem being is the brush is huge - not great for getting into those little lashes!

The Sanctuary Foaming Bath Soak If you love the classic Sanctuary scent you'll love this bath soak.  The whole bathroom is filled with the smell!  However, I find the bubbles are not that long-lasting.

Beauty Junky Ginseng Refreshing and Moisturising Face Mask This came in my Selfridges Lucky Bag.  I love the idea of face masks but I struggle to find one that actually has an affect on my skin without causing some kind of allergic reaction!  This luckily didn't bring me out in any kind of strange rash.  However, it says to 'peel' the mask off after 15 minutes.  Errmmm.... its so thick and creamy I'm not quite sure how that would work!  None the less it left my skin feeling soft and moisturised.

Bare Minerals Big and Bright Eyeliner in Charcoal  These are lovely pencil style liners.  They are in twist up style packaging but also come with a smudger and pencil sharpener in the base which is handy!  However, as the pencil is so soft the sharpener tends to break the 'lead'.

Diorshow Mascara This mini mascara was a sample from a Dior counter.  I think this is a fantastic mascara but a little out of my price league as although I use mascara everyday I never manage to use one up before it goes dry and needs replacing.  The brush and formula is the complete opposite to the Soap and Glory Thick and Fast.  This has a teeny brush with 'teeth' rather than bristles and is perfect for separating and defining lashes for a natural look.

Decleor Phytopeel Exfoliating Cream Review

Decleor is a brand that really appeals to me.  Featured in several spas, I love the way they combine luxury with natural ingredients.  Therefore, I was super excited to receive this sample of Decleor Phytopeel Exfoliating Cream.

Decleor Phytopeel Exfoliating Cream is described as a gentle and natural way to renew your skin.  Exfoliating is a really important skincare step to me as prior to using Liz Earle's Cleanse & Polish I was under the impression that I had dry skin.  However, the gentle exfoliating of the muslin cloth has completed eliminated any dryness I previously had.  Now gentle exfoliating products always catch my eye.

Decleor Phytopeel Exfoliating cream is a thick, tacky, pearlised cream as you can see below.  The scent is quite medicinal but still natural.  The directions state to smooth on a medium layer of this cream all over the face, avoiding the eyes, and leave to dry for a few minutes.  So far so good..,

When the cream has dried down you are instructed to rub off the cream in circular upward motions till it starts to 'peel' off.  This is where I began to hate this product.  Firstly, to get the product to peel of the skin you have to rub quite roughly.  My skin was already starting to get slightly pink and sore at this point rather than glowing!

The cream rubs off in little flakes as shown here.  Attractive?  Not very.  You are then advised to rinse any remaining product away.  This in itself is quite difficult and I couldn't help but feel there was still some product remaining on my face.  Using a toner seemed to resolve this slightly.

Finally, having managed to remove all of the product my skin did look very clear and feel remarkably smooth but it also looked rather red and blotchy from all that rubbing!  My moisturiser also seemed to sink in twice as quick as normal.  Maybe this is a good thing but I couldn't help but feel the Decleor Phytopeel was slightly drying?

I would not say the Decleor Phytopeel is a bad product as it produces results.  However, I do think it is most definitely not suitable for all skin types as suggested.  If you are prone to redness or sensitivity you may want to think twice about the rough way in which you have to remove this product.

Furthermore, the actual experience of using the product wasn't pleasant for me.  I like gentle, luxurious beauty experiences rather than vigorous, abrasive ones!  If you don't like the feeling of 'a good scrub' maybe give this one a miss!

Have you tried Decleor Phytopeel?  Did you find it harsh and uncomfortable to use?

The Death of the Beauty Box?

When I first started blogging I discovered Beauty Boxes.  Namely the Feel Unique Beauty Box (now discontinued)  The idea totally captured my imagination - a little parcel of treats every month with new and high end beauty brands to try.  I only received a total of 3 boxes before Feel Unique sadly cancelled their service.

I say sadly... however, had they continued I am not sure my subscription would have done despite having made good use of the 3 boxes I did receive.  Some bloggers, such as myself do not regularly receive free samples from PR companies to review.  Therefore, beauty boxes seem like an affordable way to try out and review the latest beauty products.  However, this quickly evolves into a way of collecting a selection of random samples that you would never have considered buying in the first place!

Furthermore, a lot of beauty bloggers have talked of how subscribers have been hooked in with fantastic boxes only for the next month to be given a pile of, well...  A prime example of this was the recent Selfridges Lucky Bag.  A few months earlier Selfridges sold a Beauty Box at the same price of £15 and included some amazing products including a full sized Stila One Step Correct.  With high hopes of similar products in the Lucky Bag many purchasers were left disappointed with bargain basement products that would look out of place on the shelves of Selfridges.  A clever but nasty marketing ploy?

Luckily, my Selfridges Lucky Bag was quite reasonable but the experience of my friends has put me off ever buying a random beauty box/bag again.  I would much rather take my hard earned cash and buy one well researched product a month and get full use out of it!

How do you feel about beauty boxes?  Are you still in love with them or do you think they have run their course?

My Selfridges Lucky Bag - Revealed!

I must admit this morning I was feeling a little fed up at the thought of receiving a disappointing Selfridges Lucky Bag after all the hype.  As the reviews mounted up online the majority of bloggers seemed less than pleased with the contents.

However, just after 5pm today my Selfridges Lucky Bag arrived!  I was really pleased with the quick delivery as I only chose standard but it came the next day after ordering.   It came in a rather large yellow lined Selfridges box as shown here:

Some of the reviews showed items such as tissues and beauty vitamins - items I would have been severely disappointed with!  I was hoping for either REN, Dermalogica or the very cute sparkly Duck Lip Balm I'd seen others have.  Here are the items I received:

REN Moroccan Rose Otto Body Wash 50ml (£4.25)
Disco Duck Creme Brulee Lip Balm Full Size (3.99)
Anatomicals SPF 15 Banana Lipbalm (£2.55)
Beauty Junky Ginseng Face Mask (£1.95)
OCC Lip Tar (£10)
Eyeko Skinny Mini Liquid Eyeliner (£10)
Total Value: £32.74
I am really pleased with my Lucky Bag in comparison to others.  I can always use lip balms especially at this time of year and the lip tar is a gorgeous vivid fuscia pink.
The REN Body Wash smells gorgeous and this will be my first chance to try this brand.
The Eyeko Liquid Eyeliner is perfect for me as I never go a day without wearing eyeliner!
What I think has disappointed most people about these bags is the brands included don't seem to represent those that you would expect to see in Selfridges i.e. high end brands.  Their previous beauty box delivered on this front.
However, I really like that no two bags seem to be the same like the original lucky bags we had as children!
Did you order yourself a Selfridges Lucky Bag?  What was your opinion?

Selfridges Beauty Workshop Lucky Bag

So I actually managed to order myself a Selfridges Beauty Workshop Lucky Bag!!!  I wasn't feeling hopeful as I'd heard the beauty boxes had sold out within an hour.  Luckily, I woke up at 6.00am to see an email had been sent only 15 mins earlier!  On I went and grabbed that gorgeous little bag of surprises :D  However, here are a few things that have surprised me about this 'limited' purchase:

1.)  The added p&p of £4.95 - I hope this comes beautifully packaged and arrives on time!  I HATE paying this much for p&p

2.)  They're still not sold out!  I thought they would fly off the shelfs especially as they are supposedly limited to 1000 bags.  This is despite...

3.)  You can buy as many as you want - my whole office has purchased them in multiples!

Hmm... my limited Lucky Bag is not feeling so exclusive anymore :(

However, I am still excited to see what I get and it's my pre-Christmas treat to myself.

Did you manage to bag yourself a bag?  You can still get yours here!

My Winter Rescue Remedies

Even with this mild weather we're having at the moment I still start to feel the need to change my beauty routine as my hair and skin starts to dry out.  Here are a few of my favourite products that I add to my routine in the winter:

Clockwise: Sarah Chapman Skinesis Hydration Booster, Sarah Chapman Skinesis Overnight Facial, Elemis Frangipani Monoi Oil, Ojon Damage Reverse Serum, Moroccan Oil
Sarah Chapman Skinesis Hydration Booster This is a fab little 'liquid' that you just apply 1 or 2 drops to your skin or mix with your existing moisturiser.  I love to mix it with my Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser.  It increases hydration without me having to switch moisturiser completely when winter approaches.
Sarah Chapman Skinesis Overnight Facial  A cult product amongst beauty fans, I tend only to use this when my skin feels like a needs a real boost.  Instead of applying my moisturiser at night I massage 2 or 3 drops of this serum into my face and enjoy the gorgeous aromatherapy scents.  A really relaxing treat and I wake up in the morning with baby soft skin!
Elemis Frangipani Monoi Oil  This body oil has to be haveof my favourite scents.  It reminds me of the Aqua Sana Spa where I first tried it.  Great for instense body moisturising on extra dry areas such as knees and elbow - also fantastic for massage!  The only slight downside is it is solid at room temperature but a few minutes in a warm bath and it turns to oil.
Ojon Damage Reverse Serum  I received this in my Harrods Glossy Box - a fantastic birthday present from my friend Leigh at The LA Effect !  This is perfect for applying to dry and flyaway ends as the serum is quite light and not at all greasy.  I really love the 'pipette' style dispenser too!
Moroccan Oil  I love using the famous Moroccan Oil on wet hair after washing.  I'm slightly addicted to its scent too!  Just a tiny 5 pence piece blob massaged in disappears on drying but leaves hair feeling really healthy without any residue.  A teeny bottle like this lasts me ages too!
How do you step up your beauty regime in the winter?

Collection 2000 Haul

This weekend I needed to purchase some new liquid eyeliner and mascara.  Though I never go a day without them I struggle to pick a brand and find them the least exciting make-up purchases!  So I popped into Superdrug and noticed they had 3 for 2 on all cosmetics and just for simplicity and to save the pennies I went to the Collection 2000 counter.

Collection 2000 definitley has a reputation for being a bargain beauty brand but it does seem to have a few fantastic products.  I am a fan of their Lasting Perfection  Concealer and used to love their Perfecting Minerals till they were discontinued :( and I developed a pricey addiction to Bare Minerals!

This time I picked up their Skyscraper Mascara, Eye Definition Liquid Eyeliner and Metallic Cream Eyeshadow in Emerald City as my freebie.

I am really liking the Skyscraper mascara so far.  It has a rubber bristled brush with short bristles on one side and longer ones on the others.  It reminds me lots of the Diorshow Mascara brush but at the fraction of the price (£4.99)  This mascara gives long natural and defined lashes which I much prefer to clumpy thickened ones.  It does seem to flake a little so might not be great for those who touch their eyes lots!
Eye Definition Liquid Eyeliner is a good classic style liquid eyeliner.  I have dabbled with eyeliner pens, pencils and gel pots but this is the type I prefer.  The eyeliner is very liquid and highly pigmented so no need to repeat over your line!  One sweep and you have a perfect classic eyeline.
The Metallic Cream Eyeshadow was a little treat purchase - something I didn't need but I loved the shade Emerald City.  It's a shimmering khaki green colour which looks lovely on hazel brown eyes.  You apply with the sponge applicator inside and it suggests blending with a finger.  However, as with all cream eyeshadows I find this wipes the colour straight off again!  Instead I just paint it on direct.  The colour lasts and barely creases.
These 3 Collection 2000 eye products are great cheap treats and I definitley think I'll be repurchasing the mascara and eye liner.
